Programmable thermostats allow you to set your heating and air conditioning levels according to your household or business needs over the course of a day or a week. Try lowering heat to 62 (or lower) at night, and increasing the setting on your air conditioner to 75 (or higher) during hot days.

Before leaving home, check that all appliances and heating or air conditioning systems are set to use the least energy while you're away (i.e., turn off/down appliances, turn down heat, turn off air conditioning).

"Businesses may deduct from net income, for state excise tax purposes, costs incurred from the installation of any "solar or wind powered climatic control unit and any solar or wind powered water heating unit or any other type unit or system powered thereby." The installation must be located in Massachusetts and used exclusively in the trade or business of the corporation. "This statute exempts solar and wind energy systems that qualify for the Excise Tax Deduction for Solar or Wind Powered Systems from the tangible property measure of the state's corporate excise tax. The exemption is in effect for the length of the system's depreciation period" (DSIRE site).
