Concord Public Works offers free irrigation system checks

Even though the region has had a fair amount of rain this summer, there is still a need to keep an eye on summertime water use. To help customers with irrigation systems use water more efficiently, Concord Public Works (CPW) is offering free irrigation system check-ups.

In-ground irrigation systems account for much of Concord’s summertime water use, therefore it is important that every system is working as efficiently a practicable, given its age and design. Even the most basic system shortcoming can waste thousands of gallons of water and cost homeowners hundreds of dollars a year in unnecessary landscaping costs and water bills.

CPW is working with GreenScapes Lawn and Gardens to provide this complimentary service. Call 1-617-794-7108 or e-mail gogreenscapes@comcast.net to schedule an appointment. A certified irrigation system auditor will come to your home or business to determine the efficiency of your system. You will receive a report documenting your property’s irrigation water use with recommendations for repairs and/or improvements that can save you water.

Funding for this initiative is provided by MassDEP under a Safe Drinking Water Act State Revolving Loan Set-aside Grant. The check-ups are available for a limited number of customers and appointments will be made on a first-come, first-serve basis.
